Why subscribe?

This is a blog where I will post articles that I write for Mongabay, where I’m a features reporter, along with the occasional observation or slice of history. I cover the environment and the many political economies, large and small, that shape how we relate to it across the world. You might see articles about carbon credits, or thorny issues surrounding wildlife conservation, or maybe something that connects human migration to environmental shifts. Once in another life, I was a human rights worker, and now I talk to people about how the planet is changing and what those changes mean to them. Sometimes I go visit them and see first-hand. I’m also a semi-practicing Buddhist so there might be a little touch of appreciation for the magic of our world and surroundings from time to time.
